Pay-Ton Peyton

Ran across a serious Peyton Manning collection today. The seller claims that it is the ultimate Manning collection, and judging from both the cards in it and the asking price, I cannot really argue with that claim. He has all the cards listed in there, many of them graded and/or rare inserts. The starting bid is very high, but there is already a bid on it. The Buy It Now price is more than 95% of the houses in America! OK, after the recent real estate crash, maybe more than 98%. A quick count in UltraEdit shows the collection to consist of over 840 Peyton cards. Have you ever seen a more impressive Peyton Manning collection than this?

The Ultimate Peyton Manning Collection

Here are a few of the 1/1 cards that are listed (there are more):

98 COLL. EDGE MASTERS PREVIEW #RM1 NO GRADE 1/1
98 COLL. EDGE ODESSY 2 OF 4 QT #172 PROMO 1/1 NO GRADE
98 COLL. EDGE ODYSSEY QUARTER 3 #212 NO GRADE 1/1
98 COLL. EDGE ODYSSEY QUARTER 4 #239 NO GRADE 1/1
98 FLAIR SHOWCASE FEATURE FILM #9 PSA 10 1/1
98 FLAIR SHOWCASE LEGACY COLLECTION MASTERPIECE #3 BGS 9 1/1
98 PLAYOFF CONTENDERS LEATHER AUTO PROOF SET PSA 1/1

It will be interesting to see if this collection hits the reserve price. I'll keep an eye on it.

Take a Seat Mantle

2009 Topps Heritage Mickey Mantle Seat Relic
Stoney over on the PSA boards pulled a nice 2009 Mickey Mantle seat relic card. Someone else over there pulled another Mantle seat relic card last night, but it was a different card! So there are at least two different Mantle seat relic cards.

Heritage King Has Thrown The First Pitch

If you have been around the PSA message boards, you probably know that Kevin (Joe Stalin) is probably the biggest Topps Heritage enthusiast out there. It's fitting that Kevin was able to throw out the proverbial First Pitch for 2009 Heritage (that I know of).

A few 2009 Heritage singles have hit the bay:

2009 Heritage Chrome Ichiro

Here are a couple of Kevin's nice pulls and check his blog for a nice review of the overall set:

2009 Topps Heritage is Alive!!!!!!

Turns out all the rumors of a delayed release for 2009 Topps Heritage were false. It hit the streets today. There is surprisingly no singles up yet on ebay, but Kevin on the PSA boards has picked up six hobby boxes from his local dealer and has already pulled a red ink Fausto Carmona Real One auto. I hope to have some scans up soon, although they probably won't be my cards. I don't expect to get my Heritage cards until next week. But if you want to see Kevin's scans for now, here is the link to them on the PSA boards:

I Cannot Tell A Lie

This card is sweet. It's an Abraham Lincoln/George Washington cut signature card. Some cut signature cards are done kind of weak, but this one is really cool. And apparently valuable too. I wonder how much this pack cost. I'm guessing it went for a pretty penny, but well worth it in this case. It's up for auction right now with a starting bid of $10,000 and it already has two bids. Check out the auction for nice large detailed pics:

Here is the video of the guy ripping the pack and pulling out this nice card. Luckily, the profanities are muted out!

Beckett ran an article on the pull which was done by a 22 year old collector from the Cleveland area. Here is the complete article from Beckett:

Nomo Recession Here

How much would you guess that a Hideo Nomo card would sell for in these troubled economic times? The card that I am looking at is going for a price that I absolutely cannot believe! This is not a rookie card, it is not an autographed card or even a game used card. It is numbered, but only to 25. It is number 01/25, and the first card usually get a little premium, but this is insane! If anyone knows the history behind this card, let me know. There has to be some reasoning for this.
